April Showers and the Under 11's and 14B's score good wins, 14A's held 2-2 at Tolka..
Under 14 b Cabinteely 1 Palmerstown rangers 3
Palmerstown were hoping to pop back into third place with what was going to be a hard fought game. The lads started brightly and early chances for Keith Weekes, Shane Murphy and Sean Johnston all went begging. Cabinteely finished the stronger in the first half and went in leading 1 - 0 at half time, although Shane Murphy was very unlucky not to be awarded a peno, a cabinteely defender hung onto his jersey, sadly though it was blindside of the referee. The second half was played in constant rain. Palmerstown having played well in the first half upped their standard and the tricky feet of Keith Weekes tormented the home defence for the whole second half. The home team couldn’t handle the pace coming from Maguire and Madden on the right, and Weekes on the left and Chris Madden came in from the right to strike a low hard shot to the keepers right and level the game. The home teams kicked off and were pounced on by a commanding Rangers defence. Walsh played the ball out to the right where Maguire came from right full to place a neat ball into the box allowing Sean Johnston bury it to the net. From here on in, and in torrid rainfall, Palmerstown lads had a ding dong battle with Cabinteely. A man of the match performance from Mal Taylor saw him send a ball free down the left with five minutes to go and a goal mouth scramble ensued. Chris (eh driver) Madden somehow got a foot on it and pushed it home for rangers to go 3 - 1 up. Cabinteely had given there all up to that and Palmerstown held control for the final few minutes to go home worthy and very wet winners 3 - 1. Under 11 b Palmerstown Rangers 4 Park Celtic 3 The under 11’s finished their season in grand style after a superb comeback against a skilful Park Celtic side. The usual slow start for Rangers saw them concede a two goal lead to Park and haul it back to 2-2 within 25 minutes through Aaron O’Dwyer and an own goal. However Park struck on the stroke of half time for a deserved lead at the break. Palmerstown upped their game in the second half and the guys produced their best 30 minutes of football all season. Amy Conroy switched to sweeper to shore up the defence and the team grew in confidence when Ross Bolger chipped a superb equaliser after a storming run down the right. At this stage Rangers were the team most likely and with two minutes remaining Nathan Merrigan worked his way past two defenders and hit a screamer to the top corner of the net to give Rangers the win and finish the season on a high. The management team, Joe Gibney and Gerry Lynch, were happy to see the team finish in a respectable top half table finish in their first year at the eleven a side game. The Under 14A's had a good 2-2 draw at Tolka Rovers with manager Viv Jackson happy with the efforts of the lads.
