Match Report Under 16's
Ardmore 3-2 PRFC
Coming off the back of a good win at home Palmerstown travelled to meet the league leaders Ardmore in a confident mood. The visitors were dissappointed with the state of the pitch, very bobbly with branches strewn all over, nevertheless the 2 teams served up a cracking game and both teams passed and probed with skill and intelligence during the opening 10 minutes. In that period Palmerstown were the brighter and some neat passing allowed Eoin Daly score with an excellent right foot finish to the corner for the lead goal. However 5 minutes later and against the run of play Ardmore equalised in bizarre circumstances. An easy back pass to keeper Nolan took a wicked bobble as the keeper went to clear his lines. This allowed the Ardmore striker nip in and round the keeper to finish to the empty net. Things got worse for luckless Rangers 2 minutes later when a long ball was sent forward and and everyone (including the Ardmore stiker) stopped in expectation of the offside whistle. However the ref had a different view and waved play on for the Ardmore striker to renew his pursuit and finish the ball to the net for the lead goal. However the visitors didnt let their composure slip and with clever feet from Kyle Quinn he found the equalising goal. Ardmore bounced back with a 25 yard screamer to the net for what turne out to be the winning goal
The second half saw Parmo step up their efforts and pressurise the home side. Although Ardmore missed a curious Penalty decision they were hangning of for dear life and resorted to questionable defensive tactics as they were reduced to 10 and by all accounts could have been reduced to 8 men as they held on for dear life. The Parmo lads can be proud of their efforts on a day when they didnt get the breaks they deserved.
