Under 12’s 3 Drogheda Boys 1

The under 12’s had a welcome second win of the season

after a hard fought battle with a gallant Drogheda side.  Rangers dominated a scoreless first half with Eamonn, Ross and Paul all having good chances to score.  Rangers defence looked solid in the first half with keeper Sarah-Jane in good form behind a solid back four of Derek, Gary, Jack and Chulainn.

Ten minutes into the second half and Drogheda punished Rangers on a breakaway with a low strike to the bottom corner.  Rangers re-grouped and a strong run through the middle by Mark Scully set up Ross for a well taken equaliser.  As both teams pushed for a winner Drogheda were denied by the woodwork and immediately a superb right wing run and cross by Nathan set up Ross for the decisive second.  Ross went on to complete the hat-trick when he slid the ball home from close range.  A great team performance by all 16 involved for Rangers and man of the match Ross in particular.

St Mochtas 2 Under 13’s 2

.

The lads picked up a great point at St Mochtas on Saturday.  Already without 3 players due to illness the lads lost Sean Denny in the first half through injury and centre back Owen Walsh struggled on with a knee injury.  Goals from Owen Walsh and Ciaran Mulhare gave Rangers their share of the spoils.  A great team performance included standout efforts from Glenn Doyle, Ross Mullen, Ciaran Mulhare and Shane Ellis ably supported by James Dunphy in goal.

Sunday 14th

Under 17's 2 St Josephs Boys 4

The 17s will be left wondering how they lost this game. For 70 minutes they played their best football of the season so far. 2 nil up with both goals from top scorer Alan Caul and Rangers looked like they had all three points wrapped up. Then with 20 minutes to go and looking very comfortable, St Josephs scored after some slack defending. This unsettled Rangers and they then conceded 2 more in the space of the next 5 minutes. Joes scored their 4th with the last kick off the game with Rangers pushing forward for an equalizer. Despite the 4 2 defeat if they continue to play like this it won't be long before they get back to winning ways.
