Cup Joy for 12's and 13's, close call for Under 15B who are unlucky to lose to St Kevins
| Saturday 3rd October 09 | | Under 10 | Drogheda Boys v Palmerstown Ranger (off) | | Under 11 | Palmerstown Rangers 0 Marino 5 | | Under 12 Cup | Palmerstown Rangers 7 Leixlip Utd 2 | | The Under 12’s had a superb win in the cup against a gallant Leixlip Utd. Rangers scored early through Jamie Elliott but the visitors soon equalised and Rangers were in a real game. A terrific Amy Conroy goal was followed by Jamie’s second and Eamonn Walker to leave it 4-1 at half time. Rangers dominated the early exchanges in the second half and Ross Bolger bagged a couple of goals followed by good team goal which was well finished by Eric O’ Halloran. Leixlip got a late consolation but Rangers march on to the next round. | | Under 13 Cup | Palmerstown Rangers 5 Kilnamanagh FC 0 | | The Under 13’s maintain their good start to the season with an excellent 5 goal win in the cup. A Glenn Doyle fee kick had the lads ahead at half time with Shane Ellis, Owen Walsh, Peter Cassidy and Sean Denny all playing well to keep the lads on the front foot. Rangers kept up the good work and two quick goals after the break from Raymond Magharan and Ciaran Quinn sealed the result and following near misses from Simon Wells and Ross Mullen Raymond grabbed his second with a cool finish. Best was left for last when a Ciaran Quinn thunderbolt concluded the scoring. Man of the Match was Stefan Delaney for a great all round display. | | Under 14 A | Match Off | | Under 14 B | Palmerstown Rangers 0 Dunboyne 3 | | Sunday 4th October 09 | | Under 7 | Palmerstown Rangers Lourdes Celtic | | Under 8 C1 | Palmerstown Ranges 5 Harolds Cross 3 | Team - James Dempsey, Karl Moore, Conor Larkin, Aaron Dempsey, Jack Halpin, Evan Lynch & Adam Stuart Subs - Aaron Dunne, Dylan Ellis, and Adam Brady Goalscorers Adam (2), Evan, Jack and Dylan Man of the Match - Karl Moore. Comments - Palmerstown returned to winning ways with a terrific performance against the previously unbeaten Harolds Cross. Palmerstown were quick out of the blocks and took an early lead thanks to goals from Adam Stuart and Evan. Although Harolds Cross pulled a goal back, further goals from Adam again, Dylan and Jack gave Palmerstown a commanding 5-1 half-time lead. Harolds Cross upped their game and pulled a goal back early in the second-half but terrific performances in defence from James, Aaron Dunne, Conor and our man of the match Karl ensured that Harolds Cross were only allowed one further goal. Although Palmerstown didn't add to their first half tally some great work from Aaron Dempsey and Adam Brady ensured that the visitor's keeper was kept equally busy in the second half. | | Under 9 | Palmerstown Ranges Mountview | | Under 10 | St Josphs Boys v Palmerstown Rangers | | Under 15 A | Leicester Celtic v Palmerstown Rangers | | Under 15B | Palmerstown Rangers 1 St Kevins Boys (A) 2 | | The Under 15B’s were very unlucky to lose by the odd goal in a game where they pressed the visitors to the limit. St Kevins had 2 clear chances on the day and made of the most of them to secure the win. The first came on 27 mins when a shot came through a crowded area to elude keeper Keegan in the home goal. Down 1-0 at half time Rangers mounted an onslaught, penalty appeal turned down, shot hit the post and 21 corners forced in the match. St Kevins broke home hearts when their striker ran onto a ball over the top to hit a good strike on goal. Keegan parried well but the rebound was buried to leave it 2-0. Lee Dunne was taken down with 5 minutes to go and Gavin Walsh converted the penalty. That’s how it ended but manager Dave Walsh was full of admiration and pride with his team’s gallant effort. | | Under 17 M1 | Palmerstown Rangers 4 Portmarnock 1 | | Rangers continued their impressive start to the season with a convincing 4 1 win over Portmarnock in Mill Lane. Rangers passed the ball well and could have been ahead when a good header from Sean Nolan just missed the target. Two first half goals from Brian Tyrell and Ian Jackson Ryan gave Rangers a comfortable half time lead. In the second half Rangers upped the tempo and Portmarnock struggled to stay in the game. At one stage Rangers kept the ball for about 20 passes and were unlucky not to score at the end of some great team play. 2 further goals from Alan Hope and a great finish into the top corner from Christy O'Sullivan sealed the win. Portmarnock got a late consolation goal but this win leaves Rangers with a 4 point lead at the top of the table. |
