Under 8's march on, wins for 12's ,13's & 14's. Our 15B and 17 Major teams maintain unbeaten starts... reports and results as follows...
| Saturday 19th September 09 | | Under 10 | Palmerstown Rangers 0 Leixlip Utd 8 | | Under 11 | Palmerstown Rangers 1 Marino 5 | | Under 12 | Palmerstown Rangers 5 Kilnamanagh 4 | | The Under 12’s got their first win of the campaign after a terrific battle with Kilnamanagh. A slow start saw the away team pick up a two goal lead after twenty minutes but Rangers picked up the tempo and after some near misses Jamie Elliott cut the deficit before the break. Rangers had a purple spell after the break and two goals by Ross put the home team 3-2 in front. Back came Kilnamanagh with two well taken goals to give them a 4-3 lead with 5 minutes remaining. However with defender Owen and goalkeeper Sarah in good form Rangers hit back and after a superb equaliser from Ross, Chulainn hit a superb strike from the edge of the area for the last minute winner. A great game with huge credit to Kilnamanagh who will have a good season based on this form. | | Under 13 C | Palmerstown Rangers 5 Phoenix FC 1 | | The Under 13’s got off to a great start for the season with this emphatic win over Phoenix. The boys were dominant from the off with Simon Wells and Raymond Magharan creating chances and the wide men Ciaran Quinn and Peter Cassidy working well down the flanks. From a rare Phoenix attack Brian Kennedy produced a superb one-handed save. Building from a solid back four of Owen Walsh, Sean Denny, Rob Eccles, Shane Ellis and with Glenn Doyle pulling the midfield strings the Rangers lads went on to dominate and replacements Steven Smyth and Rob Mullen got in on the act with excellent contributions. A great start to the season for management team of Andy Doyle and Paul (Buzz) Ellis. | | Under 14 A | Palmerstown Rangers 3 Ballymun Utd 2 | | Under 14 B | Match Off | | Sunday 20th September 09 | | Under 7 | Palmerstown Rangers 3 Lucan Utd 5 | | Under 8 C1 | Palmerstown Ranges 6 St Francis 1 | | Team - James Dempsey, Conor Larkin, Aaron Dunne, Dylan Ellis, Jack Halpin, Evan Lynch & Keith QuinnSubs - Aaron Dempsey, Adam Brady and Karl MooreGoal scorers Evan (3), Dylan (1), Keith (1) and Adam (1)Man of the Match - Dylan EllisComments - Palmerstown dominated this game from start to finish to continue our good start to the season. Our defensive trio of Conor, Aaron and Karl kept a tight ship at the back and on the few occasions when St Francis did get through our goalkeeper James was on hand to make some great saves. Our fowards were on great form again with Evan grabbing another hat-trick and Keith and Adam also getting on the score sheet. Man of the match Dylan Ellis capped a fine second-half performance with a great goal. | | Under 9 | Palmerstown Ranges 1 Willows 5 | | Under 10 | Palmerstown Ranges 1 St Kevin’s Boys 4 | | Under 15 A | V Ballymun Match Off | | Under 15B | Palmerstown Rangers 1 St Josephs Boys 1 | The Under 15B’s came into this game with a 100 % record but will be happy to take a share of the points on this occasion. Joeys had all the play in the opening 20 minutes. A sloppy and needless free-kick given away by Rangers was followed by a sweet curler into the top corner by the visitors. The second half was a different story and the lads found their game and for most of the second half pinned Joeys back in their own half. With 5 minutes to go a sweet drive from man of the match Graham Fitzgearld kept the boys unbeaten record intact against a strong Joeys team. | | Under 17 M1 | Palmerstown Rangers 2 St Josephs Boys 2 | | A 2 all draw away to St. Josephs would normally be a good result but Rangers were disappointed as they threw away a 2 goal half time lead. Joes started the better playing the ball around well but good defending from Gav McCormack, Donal Murray, Shane O'Reilly, Alan Hope and keeper Kevin Deegan kept them out. Up front Brian Tyrrell and Al Caul were causing problems closing down the Joes defenders. This led to both goals. Brian pounced on a poor back pass to lob the keeper for the first. 10 minutes later he won the ball from the centre half in the box and laid it off to Al Caul. He was taken down for a penalty which Alan Hope calmly placed in the corner for a deserved 2 nil lead. After half time Rangers dropped the pace for the 1st 25 minutes which allowed Joes back into the game with 2 goals in quick succession. Rangers had some good chances to get the winner but the final ball let them down. |
