Secretary's End of Season Report 2009/2010

Well another season over and done with and how it went by so quick.  The weather was crazy,we had snow, rain sunshine and high winds and that was just one of the days!!  So here is  my final report summing up the teams and how they performed

CRECHE
Starting with our youngest members and thats our creche.  Such is the fun the boys and girls are having they are passing the word around that the place to be seen and fun with football is mill lane every saturday morning.  Aiidan with the help of niall and ian are running with numbers close to 25 every saturday morning and all aged between 5 and 7.  Its open to all and no limit on places.  While most have put the boots away in place of beach towels for summer hols?? our creche will stay running for a bit longer into summer months.  If interested or want to join someone in then drop us a line on either the club phone or send us an e-mail via the website.

SMALL SIDED
The success story from the small sided this year belongs to Peter and the under 9`s.  Having started the year of with a few players and what was a first time on a team for many players, wins were hard to come by pre-christmas.  They stuck at it and all credit to peter and his managers the
numbers increased, football got better and the laughter and fun they had grew every week.  All that been said they just happened to not lose a game after christmas and won there league....:-)  Born in 2000 the lads will play under 10s next season on a sunday and at the time of writing we look like forming a second team that could play on a saturday.  Elsewhere keith mc cann took to the hotseat of football management after a long spell as a player with parmo, he is passing on his knowledge to the young guys who are the last team who came out of the creche and started playing football for the time this year against other clubs.  They had a ball all year long, having up`s and downs wins and losses.  Looking forward to next year when they will be wiser to a few tricks.  Born in year 2002 the lads will play under 8s next year on a Sunday.
Under 8s born 2001 are run by Aidan and ended their year mid-table.  Next season they will play under 9 and play on a sunday.
We have two teams at under 10 who play saturday and sunday.  These lads ended up a tough season but played great football and are already in training for their first time playing 11 a side next year.  John, fran, brendan and jimmy are doing well and looking forward to next season.the lads are all born in the year 1999.

11 A SIDE SATURDAY
Bernard and larry run the under 11s born 1998 and had a great first season at 11 a side.  Ending the season midtable was a great acheivement for the lads and they pushed the best to their limits at times.  Never out of a mid table position they will have learned from their first year on the big pitches and are looking forward to next season.
Our under 12s born 1997 are run by gerry lynch and joe gibney, also ending up mid-table they progressed well from last season.  Having picked up a good few more skills and they too also pushed the top teams in their league.  Highlight of the year for the team would be the great trip to germany where they not only played great football but had a brilliant time over there as well.  Pictures of proof can be seen in our gallery area.
Born 1996 our under 13s are managed by andy and paul.  The lads have certainly improved since last year and still have games to play but look like gaining a very respectable fifth place in the league.  They will be going under 14 next year in what will be their last year at saturday schoolboy football and like all teams be looking to sign more players.  They had a great trip paintballing were managers were forced to retire early????
We cater for two under 14s teams which the first team is run by john corrigan and paul boore.  Ending the season near mid-table was a credit to the lads who at times struggled for numbers but players remained loyal and had some great wins through the year.  Joe and colm run the second team and like the first team they ended up mid-table.  They pushed the top three all year but just couldnt break in there.  The two sides play sunday football next season and we all at the club know they will be strong contenders to deal with.

11 A SIDE SUNDAY
Success story of the 11 a side teams would this year fall to the under 15s.  Born 1994 and managed by dave walsh and dave ward they remained unbeaten in the league with 11wins and seven draws.  They claimed second place having being pipped on the final day of the season.  But not to lose a league game all year was brilliant.  Add to that then they got to the dublin cup finals but although going down 3-2 everyone at the club are so proud of them. They also manged to squeeze in winning the plate final in stoke at easter on ther trip away.  They will be very strong next year and at the time of writing it looks good that a second team will be set up.
Our oldest team are our under 17s run by noel and stephen.  The lads are still playing games and will push hard to try get promotion for next season.  Their football for most of there matches has been played with great skill and commitment.

So as you all might be heading away on hols soon, I'd like to let everyone know that any happenings that might be going on over your summer months will be posted on this site.
Keep a close eye out for our trial dates in  july???  Thanks to all my fellow committee members both on schoolboy and executive levels.  Thanks to all the parents who week in week out keep our local club supported the way it should be and lets all look forward to next season where we all hope to get even stronger as the best club in parmo.
Best wishes goes out to all our club members doing exams, and if you do as you play you will all have no worries
happy hols and see you in july/august
